BOONE — Local veterans or community college students interested in solar energy systems could be eligible for a scholarship to take the Introduction to Photovoltaic System Design & Construction Workshop at Appalachian State University.
The week-long workshop will introduce participants to the fundamentals of solar energy, types of solar energy systems, system sizing principles, and the electrical and mechanical design of photovoltaic arrays. The course will focus on the key competencies addressed in the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Associate exam and includes the exam. Upon passing, the student will receive the NABCEP Photovoltaic Associate Certification.
The course is to be held on the campus of ASU from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 13-17. Early Registration cost is $1,150.
Cypress Creek Renewables is supporting five full-tuition scholarships for community college students who attend Rowan-Cabarrus CC, Mitchell CC, or Surry CC; and veterans who live in Iredell, Rowan, or Yadkin County.
